Project Overview
With over 70 million users on the app, Venmo has become top-of-mind when it comes to sending and receiving money on mobile devices. The iconic expression, "Venmo Me" has slipped its way into our daily lives and even onto big screen movie references, but the app falls short of obvious, yet necessary features. Although Venmo has done a great job branding itself as a fun platform where friends and family members can send quick and easy payments, there are little to no tools focused on real-life group interactions.
UX Challenges
Complex group features with simple designs
Dealing with money between friends can get complicated, especially in large groups, so group features should be designed with simplicity and intricacy at the same time.

Put away the calculator
Take the burden off the user and let the app do all the work. Instead of rummaging through receipts and doing calculations by items, the app should be designed to alleviate any mathematical calculations.
The Goal
Redesign Venmo with more social features that are practical for group transactions and eliminate the need for other competing apps like Split-wise,  Excel, or other budgeting tools.
